The Trojans have already achieved bowl-eligibility and still have a chance for the Sun Belt West title
It’s an interdivision clash this weekend as the Georgia State Panthers march into Veterans Memorial Stadium for a showdown with the Troy Trojans.
Georgia State will continue their conquest for their first conference win of the season and try to snap a seven-game losing streak with bowl-eligibility unattainable this point in the season for the Panthers.
Troy is in the middle of a two-game skid of their own, losing to Arkansas State and Old Dominion. The Trojans have already achieved bowl-eligibility and still have a chance for the Sun Belt West title.

The Panthers will see Cameran Brown return to starting this week, missing him last week due to an injury he suffered against Coastal Carolina. The offense struggled in his absence with TJ Finley at the helm. Despite throwing 250+ yards, Finley was responsible for three turnovers, including a fumble late that ended a comeback attempt in the fourth quarter.
Senior wide receiver Ted Hurst is continuing his monster season by setting a career high in receptions with 64 so far this season and is 33 yards from matching his 961 receiving yards total last season, another career high.
Running back Jordan Simmons had a stellar performance against Marshall, tallied 19 carries for 164 yards and a touchdown that went 92-yards to set a new school record. The Panthers may look to lean heavily on the senior rusher to exploit Troy’s rushing defense, which ranks 112th in all FBS.
Junior linebackers Kendrick Walker and Josiah Robinson dazzled for the Georgia State defense, combining each tallying 10+ tackles and at least one tackle for loss with Walker notching a sack against the Thundering Herd. They’ll be the key players to watch for as they try to keep Troy’s offense at bay.

The Trojans will look to bounce back after a quiet offensive showing against Old Dominion last weekend, unable to eclipse 150 yards of total offense in a 33-0 blowout. Despite this result, second year head coach Gerad Parker has the Trojans in the post season after missing out last year.
Junior quarterback Tucker Kilcrease went down early with a shoulder injury against the Monarchs, putting junior Goose Crowder in control of the offense for the rest of the game. Crowder would struggle to move the ball, throwing for 98 yards and an interception. If Kilcrease can’t go on Saturday, it’ll be Crowder getting his first start since getting injured against Memphis more than two months ago.
The Trojan passing defense has been a flyswatter this season, putting them in the top 50 in all FBS at 32nd overall. Freshman safety Joe Lott and junior cornerback Jaquez White lead the Troy defense with two interceptions apiece and combine for 10 passes defended; they’ll be the ones in charge of keeping a lid on Ted Hurst.
