South Carolina asserted its dominance over Coastal Carolina in a one-sided game
In a battle of the Carolinas, South Carolina asserted its dominance over Coastal Carolina in a one-sided game where the Gamecocks maintained relentless pressure throughout the game.
On the first play from scrimmage, Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers fires a screen to his brother, Jayden, who races 75 yards to the end zone to give South Carolina an early 7–0 lead and sets the tone for the night.

Coastal was forced to punt on its first possession, and the Gamecocks wasted no time cashing in again as Sellers took it himself for six, following a pair of 13-yard runs and a 42-yard catch-and-run to his brother, Jayden. The freshman, Jayden Sellers, has already piled up two catches for 117 yards and a touchdown within South Carolina’s first two possessions.
On the first play of Coastal’s next drive, Gamecocks edge rusher Bryan Thomas Jr. screams off the corner and jars the ball loose from quarterback Tad Hudson, continuing a season-long ball-security struggle for the Coastal quarterback. South Carolina takes over in plus territory and capitalizes again, as Brady Hunt sneaks into the end zone to push the lead to 20–0 with still seven minutes left in the first quarter.
After a five-minute march into the red zone, Coastal rolls the dice on fourth down at South Carolina’s 23, but running back Jalen John is stopped short. Passing on the easy three points does not pay off, as the Gamecocks take over on downs early in the second quarter.
The Gamecocks make Coastal pay for the failed fourth down, as Donovan Murph slips free in the back corner of the end zone to stretch the lead to 27–0. The touchdown is set up by a 36-yard screen pass to Jawarn Howell and a 24-yard burst from Matt Fuller.

Coastal Carolina punts it away yet again, and South Carolina’s offense stays in rhythm. Running back Rahsul Faison rips through a crease for 46 yards, and Sellers finishes the march with a 5-yard keeper to push the lead to 34–0 just before halftime.
The Chanticleer defense forces South Carolina’s second punt of the night, giving the offense the ball back with solid field position. Still searching for their first points, Coastal turns to Philippe Laforge for a 56-yard attempt, but his kick sails wide right. South Carolina then marches quickly into range for a chip-shot field goal before halftime, stretching the lead to 37–0. South Carolina averaged 12.5 yards a play in the first half.
Coastal Carolina took the ball to start the second half and crafted a patient, methodical drive that consumed nearly seven minutes. The Chanticleers advanced deep into South Carolina territory, reaching the 15-yard line, but came up empty when a fourth-down pass intended for Washington fell incomplete, turning the ball over on downs.
After regaining possession, the Gamecocks continued their dominant performance, marching downfield with ease on a 13-play, 83-yard drive capped by Brady Hunt’s one-yard touchdown plunge. It’s Hunt’s second touchdown of the night, putting South Carolina up 44-0.
With less than 10 minutes left in the game, Coastal Carolina got on the board for the first time when Jameson Tucker burst through a wide-open lane to block a punt and return it for a touchdown. LaNorris Sellers appeared to finish his night with impressive stats: completing 16 of 20 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns, plus adding 82 rushing yards and two more scores, totaling four touchdowns on the day.
South Carolina continues their dominance as Bradley Dunn puts the cherry on top, punching in a one-yard score, extending the lead to 51-7. The Gamecocks have eclipsed 579 yards of total offense, the most yards they’ve racked up since their win over Clemson last season.
As for Coastal, they must go back to the drawing board on all three phases in hopes of spoiling James Madison’s season next week. Hudson finished the game with 174 yards, and the Coastal rushing attack that has been stellar all year, finished with only 46 yards on the ground.
“We had opportunities, we just didn’t make the most of them, we didn’t move the football down the field… We missed a lot of tackles which created big plays, didn’t play the screen game very well,” Coastal Carolina head coach Tim Beck said.
Beck also mentioned how he loves that his players keep fighting, and some have never played in such an environment like South Carolina.
