South Alabama defeats ULM 26-14, after outscoring ULM 26-0 at the conclusion of the first quarter. South Alabama moves to 3-7 overall with a 2-4 record in conference play, while ULM falls to 3-7 overall with a 1-5 record in conference play.
ULM started the game off very well. They forced a three-and-out by South Alabama and wide receiver Jake Godfrey returned the 39-yard punt for 18 yards to the South Alabama 29-yard line. On the next play, former South Alabama running back Braylon McReynolds scores on a 29-yard rush, putting ULM up 7-0 early in the first quarter.
Things didn’t stop there, after a punt by each team, South Alabama quarterback Bishop Davenport fumbles and ULM defensive back Noah Flemmings returns the scoop and score for 42 yards, giving ULM the 14-0 lead. While the momentum for ULM was high, they never saw the end zone again.

To start the second quarter, South Alabama was able to put together a nine play, 64-yard drive that was finished with a one-yard rushing touchdown by South Alabama running back Kentrel Bullock. That was the only scoring action that took place in the second quarter, as both teams had multiple punts and ULM also had a turnover on downs.
ULM led 14-7 at the half but were unable to answer the bell once the third quarter started. Following a ULM three-and-out, South Alabama put together a six play, 69 yard drive capped off by a Bishop Davenport one-yard rushing touchdown, tying the game 14 a piece. Following another three-and-out by ULM, South Alabama put together a nine play, 66 yard drive that was capped off by a Bishop Davenport three yard rushing touchdown, but the extra point attempt failed giving South Alabama a 20-14 lead.
Following a 14-yard punt by ULM, South Alabama was given good field position at the ULM 45-yard line. South Alabama put together a seven play drive that resulted in a Kentrel Bullock eight yard rushing touchdown, the two point conversion attempt failed after an incomplete pass from Bishop Davenport. South Alabama had a 26-14 lead and following an interception thrown by ULM quarterback Aidan Armenta, South Alabama secured the victory.

South Alabama quarterback Bishop Davenport finished the game 17-23 passing for 162 yards. He also had 13 carries for 50 yards with two touchdowns on the ground. Kentrel Bullock and Keenan Phillips each had 20 rushing attempts. Bullock finished the night with 85 yards and two touchdowns while Phillips finished with 65 yards.
ULM quarterback Aidan Armenta finished the night 10-19 passing with 82 yards and an interception. Braylon McReynolds led the way rushing with 12 carries for 52 yards and a touchdown against his former team.
ULM is struggling. The season seemed promising as they sat at 3-1 overall and since that moment things have gone downhill. The offense presents flashes of brilliance, but tends to fall short more than it should. ULM currently has 18 turnover on downs, which more than likely leads the Sun Belt Conference and possibly all of college football. The defense is good, but without points being scored there is only so much that they can do.
South Alabama got a much needed win. While they will miss out on bowl season, the potential is there for them to be very successful in 2026. Junior quarterback Bishop Davenport should be returning and overall a good portion of the roster should return.
South Alabama returns to action on Saturday, November 22nd to face Southern Miss at home on ESPN+ at 2:30PM.
ULM returns to action on Saturday, November 22nd to face Texas State in San Marcos on ESPN+ at 4:30PM.
