Southern Miss had three possessions in the second quarter that all resulted in punts, but that would be the complete opposite for the Bobcats.
The other two drives for Texas State would result in touchdowns. The first one was an 82-yard touchdown to wide receiver Chris Dawn Jr., his second of the season. The second was Brad Jackson’s second rushing touchdown of the night, making the score 27-0 heading into halftime.
The start of the third quarter did not get any better for the Golden Eagles as quarterback Landry Lyddy, who replaced the injured Braylon Braxton, was picked off by Jaden Rios.
After several non-scoring possessions from both teams, Southern Miss was able to get on the board late in the third quarter. Lyddy found Elijah Metcalf from four yards out to make the score 27-7.
Texas State responded to kick off the fourth quarter as running back Lincoln Pare found the end zone from one yard away, making the score 34-7.

Southern Miss got one more score late in the game, with Pittman scoring with a two-yard rush to end the game at 41-14.
Golden Eagles Head Coach Charles Huff took the blame after the loss.
“I didnāt do a good enough job getting the guys in position to execute today,” Huff said. “Hats off to Texas State, they took advantage of their opportunities.”

Texas State looks to build off of this momentum as they host ULM on Nov. 22. Southern Miss will look to bounce back as they also play on Nov. 22, heading to Mobile to take on South Alabama.
