Non-Conference
Texas State opens the season on Nov. 3 in Bowling Green, Ohio, taking on the Falcons as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge. After a quick home game against NAIA program Texas A&M-San Antonio, the Bobcats travel to New Orleans on Nov. 8 to face Tulane. This will be the teams’ first meeting since 2016, with Texas State holding a 2-0 advantage in the series.
The Bobcats then begin a five-game homestand. It starts on Nov. 12 against UTSA, as Texas State looks for its first winning streak in the series since 2012-13. Texas Southern visits Nov. 15 to complete a home-and-home series; the Bobcats won last year’s matchup 72-59.
Abilene Christian makes their first trip to San Marcos since 2019 on Nov. 18 — just the fifth meeting between the programs since Texas State moved to Division I in 1984. Former Sun Belt rival Little Rock visits Nov. 21 for their first matchup since the Trojans snapped a seven-game losing streak to Texas State on Nov. 6, 2023. The homestand ends against Division III program Texas Lutheran.
Texas State’s only multi-team event comes Nov. 28-29 at the Inaugural Resorts World Classic in Las Vegas. The Bobcats open against Seattle, which rejoined the West Coast Conference this season after a 45-year absence. Texas State leads the all-time series 3-0. In their second game, the Bobcats will either face Lehigh of the Patriot League– a first-time meeting– or UC Santa Barbara of the Big West, a program Texas State last played in 1979.
Texas State wrap up their nonconference slate with a road game at Rice before returning home Dec. 10 to host Southern University of the SWAC. They will host also host a second MAC opponent Feb. 7 as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge; that team has yet to be announced.
Conference
Texas State continues a three-game homestand to open Sun Belt play against Arkansas State and South Alabama.
The Bobcats then embark on their longest road trip of the season, a four-game stretch beginning on Dec. 31 at Troy. They visit ULM on Jan. 3, looking to extend their four-game winning streak in the series, before taking on Southern Miss and Arkansas State to close the trip.
Back in San Marcos, Texas State hosts — which has won seven out of their last eight meetings — before a rematch with Southern Miss on Jan. 17.
The Bobcats then take a two-game East Coast swing, visiting Coastal Carolina on Jan. 22 and James Madison on Jan. 24. Coastal snapped Texas State’s seven-game winning streak in the series last season; the Dukes and Bobcats are tied in their all-time series at two.
Home games against Marshall (Jan. 28) and Old Dominion (Jan. 31) close out the month. Marshall has won three of the four meetings against Texas State since joining the Sun Belt in 2022. A visit to Georgia Southern before returning home for rematches with Troy and ULM to complete a three-game homestand.
The Bobcats close the regular season on the road at South Alabama and Louisiana again, then host App State to end the schedule. The teams have alternated wins and losses in their last eight meetings dating back to 2020.
The Sun Belt Tournament runs March 3-9. Texas State has reached the final once (a loss to Troy in 2017) and the semifinals four times. With a deep and balanced conference, the Bobcats will need some well-timed luck to cap their Sun Belt tenure with a championship.
