Marshall fans are in store for another intriguing season
After a successful debut season under head coach Corny Jackson, the Marshall Thundering Herd look to carry that momentum into the 2025–26 campaign. With some key roster changes, and a mix of challenging home and road games, Marshall fans are in store for another intriguing season.

Non-Conference
Marshall opens its season on the road, traveling to newly joined MAC member UMass on Nov. 3 as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge. The road trip continues with another matchup against a MAC opponent, this time facing Toledo on Nov. 8.
The Herd return to Huntington for their home opener on Nov. 12 against Elon, marking their first of several non-conference games in the Huntington Shortly after, Marshall hits the road again for a test against ACC opponent Virginia on Nov. 15
A three-game homestand follows, starting with Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Nov. 20), then Mercyhurst (Nov. 23), and Lipscomb (Nov. 26). This gives fans plenty of chances to check out the team early in the season.
Marshall begins December with a road trip to face CAA favorite UNCW on Dec. 3, followed by another road contest at Ohio on Dec. 6.
The Herd return home for two key games before league play begins, hosting longtime rival Western Kentucky (Dec. 10) and Wright State (Dec. 13). They’ll close out their December non-conference slate with a home matchup against West Virginia Tech on Dec. 23.
Marshall will also host a MAC opponent in early February for the return leg of the MAC-SBC Challenge.
Conference
Marshall opens Sun Belt play slightly later than most, traveling to Troy on Dec. 20 to officially begin league competition. The Herd then return home to close out 2025, hosting Georgia State on New Year’s Eve.
The new year begins with a two-game homestand, starting with App State (Jan. 3) before heading back on the road for a tough stretch. Marshall will visit James Madison and Georgia State the following week.
Returning home on Jan. 14, the Herd will host Coastal Carolina, followed by a rematch with James Madison three days later. They stay in Huntington for another week, as ULM (Jan. 22) and South Alabama (Jan. 24) both come to town.
To close out January, Marshall hits the road again, traveling to Texas State (Jan. 28) and Arkansas State (Jan. 31). They will then host Southern Miss on Feb. 4, before taking part in the MAC-SBC Challenge
Following the challenge, the Herd faces a four-game road trip, traveling to Old Dominion (Feb. 11), Georgia Southern (Feb. 14), App State (Feb. 19), and Coastal Carolina (Feb. 21).
Marshall closes out the regular season at home, hosting Old Dominion and Georgia Southern. The Sun Belt Tournament will once again be held in Pensacola, Florida, from Mar. 3–9.
With a promising second-year head coach, a retooled roster, and a great mix of non-conference and conference opponents, Marshall faces a schedule that will prepare them for the post season. If the Herd can navigate some of their road stretches, they will be in strong contention for a conference championship.
